Ruth King
Ruth King is founder and CEO of Ribbon. She is a seasoned entrepreneur, who over the past 25 years has owned 7 businesses. Her first business, Business Ventures Corporation, began operations in 1981. Through Business Ventures Corporation, she travels throughout the United States coaching, training, and helping small businesses achieve the business goals they want to achieve.
After twelve years on the road, doing 200 flights per year, she knew there had to be a better way to reach business people who wanted to build their businesses and train their employees. Her husband came up with the technology. As a result HVACChannel.tv began broadcasting in March, 2002. BusinessTVChannel.com began broadcasting in January, 2005. Other channels quickly followed. Ribbon, the first Internet Broadcasting Network, was born.
BusinessTVChannel.com (www.businesstvchannel.com) is one of four companies that Ruth currently is an owner/partner in. She has been involved with many different businesses over the years with a wide range of interests including music, video graphic production, healthy house products, and t-shirts.
Ruth is passionate about helping adults learn to read, photography, and marathon races. She helped start an adult literacy organization in 1986 that currently serves over 1,000 adults per year and ran the Boston Marathon in April, 2004 and April, 2005.
Ruth holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University and University of Pennsylvania, respectively. She also holds an MBA in finance from Georgia State University.
She has written many manuals for Contractors including the popular Keeping Score Series: "Financial Management for Contractors", "Improving Profitability and Productivity", and "21 Way to Keep Your Honest Employees Honest". She was the 2006 USA Best Books Winner for Entrepreneurship and a finalist for the Independent Publisher Awards (IPPY) for her first book, The Ugly Truth About Small Business: 50 "I Never Saw It Coming" Things that Can Go Wrong and What You Can Do About It (SourceBooks). Her second book, The Ugly Truth about Managing Well, will be published by SourceBooks in Spring, 2007. Ruth has spoken for national and state association meetings, national and local trade shows, manufacturers, distributors, and others in 49 of 50 states. (She is looking for a reason to go to North Dakota). Ruth is a down to earth, thought provoking speaker who will provide audiences with ideas that will inspire them and help them earn more profits. She is available for Radio and TV interviews, in store book signings, discussions, lectures and seminars. She is available world wide depending on her schedule.
Robert J. Walters
Chief Technology Officer
Extensive background in computers, operating systems, software, Internet, videoconferencing, streaming media, LAN/WAN, broadcast television engineering, production and graphics technologies. Architect of emerging technologies and strong leader for commercial implementation of those technologies. Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, builds teams, and meets goals.
Founded several companies beginning in 1995 to serve the continuing needs of businesses to communicate with, educate and entertain its constituencies. Developed and commercialized streaming video technologies for mass communications. In March 2002 launched SVbroadcast (Streaming Video Broadcast) which creates an immersing, multi-dimensional media experience for consumers. He pioneered the development of a streaming media software codec, which enables the creation, delivery and playback of audio, video and multimedia content over the Internet via narrowband dial-up Internet connections as well as high bandwidth connections.
Paul D. Lloyd
Vice President
An experienced Senior Executive with extensive experience in operations, sales, management of service and development teams, software development, Internet, telecommunications and streaming media technologies. He was VP of Project Management for SmartVideo Technologies, responsible for day to day operations, customer care, content management, alternate channels and trade shows.
Paul was responsible for major projects during his career, including the largest PBX cutover in the US for the University of Miami, project manager for the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta where he was responsible for the software development and overall functionally of the project. It worked flawlessly and was used for the next 3 conventions. He was part of the AT&T 1996 Olympic team and was responsible for electronic messaging to 180 countries.
During his 28 years at AT&T, he was recognized numerous times for outstanding performance and attended Presidents Club 5 times for over achieving sales quota. He spent four years working for Qwest Communications in the Wholesale division selling communication products to carriers. He is highly experienced in closing large contracts for application solutions to the Fortune 500. He has developed and managed alternate channel programs at both AT&T and Qwest. He has strong leadership abilities and highly focused on customer service.
